Two-medium treatment of heat transfer in porous media: Numerical results for effective properties

This paper presents two- and three-dimensional numerical solutions for the local closure problems associated with the two-equation model for heat transfer in porous media. Results are presented for the thermal dispersion tensors for both phases, in addition to the coupling dispersion tensors that appear naturally in the two-equation model. Results for the volumetric heat transfer coefficient are also given for Peclet numbers ranging from 0.1 to 1000. The longitudinal thermal dispersion coefficient for the one-equation model is compared with experimental data and a reasonably good agreement is obtained. The comparison between theory and experiment for the heat transfer coefficient is also promising. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
