Implications of the B->Xl(nu)over-bar(l) lepton spectrum for heavy quark physics

The shape of the lepton spectrum in inclusive semileptonic B --> X <l(nu)over bar (l)> decay is sensitive to the matrix elements of the heavy quark effective theory, <(Lambda)over bar> and lambda(1). From CLEO data we extract <(Lambda)over bar> = 0.39 +/- 0.11 GeV and lambda(1) = -0.19 +/- 0.10 GeV2, where the uncertainty is the 1 sigma statistical error only. Systematic uncertainties are discussed. These values for <(Lambda)over bar> and lambda(1) are used to determine \V-cb\ and the <(MS)over bar> bottom and charm quark masses. We discuss the theoretical uncertainties related to order (Lambda(QCD)/m(b))(3) effects and higher orders in the perturbative expansion.
