Solid-state flow visualization in the friction-stir welding of 2024 Al to 6061 Al

摘要
The complex flow patterns developed in the friction-stir welding (FSW) of 2024 aluminum to 6061 aluminum were investigated. The flow patterns were visualized by the differential etching of the two dissimilar aluminum alloys. The reconstructed flow patterns for the FSW section corresponding to the rotational speed of 400 rpm are presented.
