摘要
Asymmetries in both structure and ejecta are observed around a number of craters on planetary surfaces. Similar asymmetries have been documented for hypervelocity impact experiments. Such asymmetries arise from the stress front developed around oblique impacts. The onset angle for asymmetric stress distributions indicates that geologic asymmetries should be present in a significant fraction of impact structures. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
