Magnetic properties of R8Mg42Zn50 quasicrystals (R=Tb, Dy, Ho, Er)

摘要
Magnetization and susceptibility measurements on the icosahedral RgMg42Zn50 compounds (R = Tb, Dy, Ho and Er) are presented. A magnetic transition occurs at rather low temperature, considering the large antiferromagnetic interactions present. Weak irreversible phenomena occur in the low-temperature phase. The nature of this latter is discussed in relation with the giant geometrical frustration associated likely with the quasiperiodicity.
