Opportunistic infections indicating factitious Cushing's syndrome - An adverse effect of cellulite treatment

We report a case of herpetic esophagitis with candidiasis associated with factitious Cushing's syndrome in a Vietnamese patient receiving long-term glucosteroid treatment of cellulite in her country. Patients with severe iatrogenic Cushing's syndrome are at high risk for opportunistic infections. Physicians should be aware of the possible misuse of glucosteroids because patients usually deny, or are not informed, of the use of these drugs.
