Comparative analysis of electronic structure of Ti: LiNbO3 and LiNbO3 surfaces

摘要
The comparative analysis of as-received and titanium indiffused LiNbO3 surfaces was carried out using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), reflection of high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) and prism coupling technique. The Ti: LiNbO3 waveguide with surface titanium concentration similar to 8mol% was fabricated. Surface phase composition has been evaluated by RHEED method and presence of lithium niobate monocrystal phase has been detected. The absence of influence of Ti incorporation into LiNbO3 crystal lattice on chemical bonding between Li, Nb and O ions was confirmed by XPS analysis. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
