Using formal logic to classify vegetation

摘要
Suggestions are made to define vegetation units by using formal logic. The characteristics that are used for the definition are logically combined using the AMD, OR and NOT operators in such a way that releves can be unequivocally allocated to vegetation units. Among all the characteristics of vegetation species groups are best suited to present allocation schemes for the Braun-Blanquet-system. It is shown that definition gaps within the system can be completely avoided by providing formal allocation rules.
