Pulse radiolysis as a tool in small particle research

摘要
A short overview of the pulse radiolysis facility which is used for work with small particles is given. The preparation of small Cd particles of small Cd particles is described as is the quenching of fluorescence of small CdS colloids upon OH attack. The reaction of lead atoms with 7 nm colloidal silver particles in aqueous solution alters the shape of the surface plasmon absorption band of the silver particles. Monovalent cations, such as Cd+ and Zn+, are pulse radiolytically generated in solutions containing silver ions (AG(+)) in low concentration as well. These monovalent cations react with the silver ions via electron transfer or by the formation of a short-lived cluster (CdAg)(2+), respectively. Subsequently, the dinner (Ag-2(+)) and trimer (Ag-3(2+)) silver ions were observed, as is the case in the radiolysis of a pure silver solution.
