Degradation of the platinum aluminide coating on CMSX4 at 1100 degrees C

摘要
The interdiffusion behaviour of a Pt-aluminide coating on CMSX4 was investigated in air at 1100 degrees C for up to 600 h. During exposure, platinum and aluminium in the coating diffused inward into the CMSX4 substrate while nickel in the substrate of CMSX4 diffused outward into the coating. For the Pt-aluminide coating, the increase of Ni and decrease of Al resulted in a phase transformation from beta-(Pt,Ni)Al to gamma'(Ni3Al) and gamma(Ni,Pt). Pt diffusion into the CMSX4 substrate caused the formation of a Re, W, Cr and Mo enriched TCP phase in the gamma' matrix at the interdiffusion zone.
