Electrochemical properties of biphase Ni(OH)2 electrodes for secondary rechargeable Ni/MH batteries

摘要
The nanosized alpha-Ni(OH)(2) was synthesized by chemical coprecipitation in alcohol-water systems. Different contents of nanosized alpha-Ni(OH)(2) were added into microscale beta-Ni(OH)(2) to form biphase electrode materials for secondary rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (Ni/MH) batteries. The electrochemical properties of the biphase Ni(OH)(2) electrodes were investigated with cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge tests. The biphase electrode with 10 wt % nanosized alpha-Ni(OH)(2) exhibited better charge-discharge cycling stability and activity than other materials, and the discharge capacity was higher than that of the beta-Ni(OH)(2) electrode. It may be a promising positive active material for rechargeable Ni/MH batteries.
