摘要
Nonlinear optical absorption within thick optical media is analyzed within the paraxial approximation, starting with the nonlinear wave equation for the optical field. Both irradiance-dependent and fluence-dependent absorbers are considered. An approximate solution for the transmitted optical power (and pulse energy) is shown to be useful within the strongly nonlinear regime. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
