Energy transport in dispersive media and superluminal group velocities

摘要
A new definition of the energy transport velocity for waves in dispersive media is proposed. In general this velocity differs from the group velocity. It can never exceed the vacuum speed of light, not even in the case of superluminal group velocities. The concept also works in the case of waveguides. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
