The relation between Young's equilibrium contact angle and the hysteresis on rough paraffin wax surfaces

摘要
The influence of the suface roughness of paraffin wax surfaces on the static and dynamic contact angle hysteresis is investigated by means of the Wilhelmy method and water, ethylene glycol as well as ethanol as test liquids at 20 degrees C in order to estimate the true Young's equilibrium contact angles. These angles can be derived from the quasistatic contact angle hysteresis data as produced by roughness variatiom using the presented empirical model. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
