Solvent removal from solution-cast films of biodegradable polymers

Solvent removal from solution-cast films of biodegradable polymers by addition of pasticizer was discussed. Solvent contents of films of biodegradable polyesters were compared and their dependence on storage conditions was determined. The films were fabricated by dipping a metal core into a polymer/chloroform solution and drying it for a few minutes. Dependence of evaporation behavior of the solvent to the type of polymer used was found by means of elemental analysis. A faster chloroform release was observed by the use of more hydrophilic plasticizer having a higher plasticizer content.
