Effects of superimposed hydrostatic pressure on flow and fracture of a Zr-Ti-Ni-Cu-Be bulk amorphous alloy

摘要
The effects of superimposed hydrostatic pressure over levels ranging from 50 MPa to 575 MPa on the flow/fracture behavior of cylindrical tensile specimens were compared to the flow and fracture behavior of identical materials tested in uniaxial tension and compression. Changes in stress triaxiality over the range of -0.33 to 0.33 produced a negligible effect on the fracture stress and fracture strain. On the other hand, the orientation of the macroscopic fracture plane with respect to the loading axis was significantly affected by changes in stress triaxiality.
