A new Er3+-doped vitreous fluoride amplification medium with crystal-like cross-sections and reduced inhomogeneous line width

摘要
Through a careful hear, treatment of an Er3+-doped ZrF4-based fluoride glass a transparent vitroceramic is obtained with the particular property of having the Er3+ active ion only within the single microcrystalline phase. This allows to encompass a new type of optical amplification medium with emission cross-section increased by 100% showing crystal-like inhomogeneous line width.
