Calbindin D28k (CB)-immunoreactive local circuit neurons in the substantia gelatinosa of the rat medullary dorsal horn were studied in slice preparations; intracellular injection of biocytin was followed by histochemical visualization of biocytin, then CB immunohistochemistry was performed. In six neurons so far examined, overall morphology, including those of dendritic fields, axonal fields, and arborization patterns, was common. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
