Percolation effect and mechanical behavior of carbon black filled polyethylene

In this study, blends of two grades of polyethylene (HDPE and LDPE) and carbon black were prepared by mixing both components in a 50 ml mixing chamber at 180°C for 10 min at the mixing speed 35 rpm. 1 mm thick slabs were prepared by compression molding of the mixed composite using a laboratory press at 180°C for 3 min. The mechanical properties of the specimens were measured at room temperature at deformation rate 10 mm min-1.
