摘要
Different technological advances led to the ambitious project of mapping and sequencing all 24 human chromosomes, the Human Genome Project (HGP), which is now being implemented at a global level. Although the technological challenges were considered great, this bold project and the technological improvements forthcoming from the project are already changing the paradigms underlying basic research in biology and medicine, as well as approaches to the practice of medicine. In particular, there is increased emphasis on early diagnosis and prevention. This article looks at this new phase of the HGP.
