Pediatric and otolaryngologic approach to the diagnosis and management of otitis media

Acute otitis media and recurrent otitis are the most common diseases in chidhood seen in ambulatory practice. The diagnosis and the treatment of these infections are at present more complex. In June 1995, pediatricians and otolaryngologists were questionned on their approach to the diagnosis and management of otitis media. We report the data of this inquiry and we analyze the differencies between these two physician groups. It is obvious that the treatment of otitis must be managed for each patient according to its risk factors.
