Development of copper-cobalt based catalysts for higher alcohol synthesis from CO2 and H2

摘要
A kind of Cu-Co bicomponent catalysts was prepared for higher alcohol synthesis from CO2 and H-2. A wide range of the Cu/Co ratios from 0.1 to 10 and the function of alkalis were investigated. The results showed that an optimum range of the Cu/Co ratios was from 0.1 to I. In this range, the catalysts exhibited the highest activity of alcohols, selectivity and C-2+ alcohol fraction. The function of alkalis was found opposite to the popular view. The study indicates that a Co-rich catalyst is favorable for higher alcohol synthesis from CO2; Go-rich Cu-Co alloy is the active phase; the function of alkalis is related to those non-reducible oxides existing in the catalysts.
