Sham surgery trials in the treatment of Parkinson's disease force its to confront the questions that science ought to ask, risk analysis, and the treatment of vulner-research, These trials are unethical because the), pose untenable scientific questions and expose participants to undue risk. Patients with Parkinson's disease would be better served by a pragmatic, rather than scientistic, approach to clinical research.
