Activation energy for mullitization of alpha-alumina silica microcomposite particles

摘要
The formation of mullite in silica-coated cy-alumina microcomposite powders was investigated using differential thermal analysis. An apparent activation energy of 1042 +/- 32 kJ/mol was determined for the mullitization reaction. This result suggests that mullite formation in microcomposite powders occurs by the same mechanism as in diphasic gels.
