Rural electrification in Nicaragua

Cua-Bocay's rural electrification (RE) project is facilitated by a non-governmental organization (NGO). The NGO constructed and commissioned a micro-hydropowered electricity system in the municipality's two towns in cooperation with area inhabitants. The rural electrification projects of Cua-Bocay have not merely facilitated a supply of electricity, but have caused many other benefits and transformations in the municipality. The benefits of the training emphasis include technical and project management skills, awareness and action on the importance of natural resource use, important multiplier effects to the local economy from the reinvestment of project salaries, and an expansion of trade and transport with the rest of the country.
