摘要
Commercial purity Al-Fe-Si alloys in the composition range 0.2-0.4wt%Fe and 0.1-0.4wt%Si have been rapidly solidified by melt spinning to produce microstructures of fine scale similar to 0.1-0.2 mu m diameter second phase particles dispersed in an Al matrix. Differential scanning calorimetry has been used to monitor the melting and resolidification of the second phase particles while entrained in the higher melting point solid matrix, in order to simulate their nucleation during the final stages of casting.
