Chemical state of carbon atoms on the surface of nanodiamond particles

摘要
Auger electron spectroscopy study of the chemical state of carbon atoms on the surface of nanodiamond particles is performed. Auger spectra of nanodiamond particles indicate that carbon atoms in nanodiamond are in the same state as those in graphite, i.e., in the sigma(s)(1)sigma(p)(2)pi(1) state, but the pi band is displaced 1 eV in energy below the Fermi level. The surface of nanodiamond particles is inert with respect to the ambient medium. (C) 2004 MAIK "Nauka / Interperiodica".
