Monte Carlo simulation of drop breakage on the basis of drop volume

摘要
A new algorithm has been proposed to predict the evolution of drop size distribution on the basis of volume of drops (since volume is a natural variable) by means of the Monte Carlo (MC) method. The MC scheme uses the concept of quiescent interval. The simulation results have been compared with the analytic solution and they agree fairly well with the analytic solution. Moreover, a unique simulation scheme has been developed assuming that the drops always break into equal daughter drops (integral or fractional). For large simulation time, the algorithm for Equal Breakage lends a useful technique in the absence of an analytic solution because of its simplicity.
