摘要
alpha-MoO3 whisker, as a novel whisker, was prepared via Mo thread oxidation at 700degreesC, 750degreesC and 900degreesC. The temperature and time had a significant effect on the morphology of the whiskers, such as flake, plate, and needle-like. The whiskers have the lateral surface of close-packed plane (010) and the growth orientation [001] due to the unique layered structure of alpha-MoO3 Crystal. The growth mechanism of the MoO3 whiskers is vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) mechanism at the holding temperature 750degreesC and 900degreesC whereas vapor-solid (VL) mechanism at 700degreesC.
