Determination of aqueous solubilities of tetrachlorobenzyltoluenes individually and in a mixture by a modified generator column technique

Aqueous solubilities of nine tetrachlorobenzyltoluenes (TCBTs) were determined at 25 degrees C using a generator column technique. The aqueous solubility of 2,2',4,4',6,6'-hexachlorobiphenyl was determined and appeared tb be relatively high, but still comparable with literature values of this PCB. Solubility values of TCBTs ranged from 0.00139 to 0.01829 g.m(-3) Additional aqueous solubilities of the same TCBTs added as a mixture were determined, ranging from 0.00076 to 0.00489 g.m(-3). No correlations were found between the aqueous solubilities of TCBT isomers, determined individually and in a mixture and between the aqueous solubilities and 1-octanol/water partition coefficients, respectively.
