Study of IR and Mossbauer spectroscopy of grafted metal complexes of poly(acrylic acid) on to low density poly(ethylene) and on to poly(tetrafluoroethylene)

摘要
Radiation graft copolymerization of acrylic acid onto polyethylene and polytetrafluoroethylene films by the direct method of multiple (discrete) irradiation with gamma-rays from a Co-60 source was carried out. Copolymers with grafting degrees from 29 to 97% for polyethylene and from 8 to 46% for polytetrafluoroethylene were obtained. The hydrophilic copolymers synthesized were transformed to ionomers (K- or Na-form) and to Fe3+ acrylate complexes. The effect of the metal complexes in the grafted copolymers on their spectral and structural characteristics was studied by IR and Mossbauer spectroscopy to assess the structure of the grafted layer ionic phase.
