摘要
It is well known that machining process monitoring is a crucial requirement in the successful implementation of the automated/unmanned operation of a plant, also referred to as FMS, CIM, CAPP, etc. This necessity has been recognized by many researchers in Korea and many encouraging results have been reported, despite the relatively short time that this area has been researched. This paper is intended to offer a comprehensive review of the current state of machining process monitoring research in Korea. Research concerning the monitoring of such machining states as chatter, tool fracture and wear, built-up edge, chip type, runout, etc. is included. General diagnostic techniques will be discussed to some extent. Sensors used to monitor machining processes will be investigated first, followed by signal processing methods and decision-making algorithms. In the process, some of the significant Korean research will be introduced in some detail, while other research will be described briefly for each category of machining state.
