Designer solvents for energy efficient CO2 separation from flue gas streams

摘要
The development of a family of designer solvents based on mixed solvent technology is described. While these solvents are capable of separating CO2 from any gas streams, they are particularly suitable for the separation of CO2 from low-pressure flue gas streams, which also contain O-2 The solvents are formulated to suit a specific task and can therefore be tailor made to be energy efficient. Relative energy consumption with respect to 5 M Monoethanolamine (MEA) can be as low as 40%. Solvent losses and corrosion rates are 10 to 5 times lower than MEA, respectively.
