摘要
In India, cervical cancer is the most common fatal cancer in women. The primary underlying cause of cervical cancer is persistent infection with human papilloma virus (HPV). This article describes the etiology of HPV and screening efforts for cervical cancer: cytology, visual inspection with acetic acid, visual inspection with Lugol's iodine, and HPV screening. It also suggests future directions for cervical cancer screening.
