摘要
The d(xy) type Tamm state of Cu(001) is strongly modified at the corresponding vicinal faces Cu(10N). There is a considerable band narrowing owing to the confinement of electrons at the (001) terraces. By means of a tight binding scheme, the bandwidth is calculated as a function of N. From band calculation of the surface state, the broadening of the photoemission peak is obtained in dependence of the sharpness of the step correlation. For Cu(106) it is discussed that the peak broadening of ca 24 meV corresponds to the width of the step correlation function of 1.8 Angstrom. (C) 1999 published by Elsevier Science B.V.
