Synthesis of LiNixM1-xO2 (M=Co, Mn) precursor by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis and electrochemical property

Spherical, porous LiNixM1-xO2, (M=Co,Mn) precursor particles were prepared by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. ICP analysis showed that the chemical composition of precursor powders was stoichiometry. The crystal phase of LiNixM1-xO2, (M=Co,Mn) was significantly influenced by the firing atmosphere and temperature and layered hexagonal structure with R3m space group was formed at 700 degrees - 800 under oxygen atmosphere. The dischargeable capacity of LiNixM1-xO2, (M=Co,Mn) was 140 - 200mAh/g in the voltage range between 2.5V and 4.3V. The higher discharge capacity and cycling performance more than LiNiO2 were achieved by addition of 5mol% Co.
