Organolithium anions, generated either by deprotonation or lithium-bromine exchange, when quenched with 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-iodoethane produce cleanly the synthetically useful iodoarenes, iodoalkenes and iodoalkynes. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
