摘要：

This paper deals with the use of radar systems for measuring the level of liquids or solid materials in a tank. This is the most used radar application for industrial purposes. The special requirements are highlighted and the basis for S/N calculation is given. The two main radar methods (pulse and FMCW) as well as some realization examples and components are presented. This paper concludes with some remarks on radio approval activities for these ultra-wide band emitters.
