Lithiation of dibenzosiloxanes (phenoxasilins or 9-silaxanthenes), Followed by oxidation of the C-Si bonds, provides a versatile method for the synthesis of 2,6,2'.6'-tetrasubstituted diaryl (biaryl) ethers.
