摘要
Magnetic small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurements were performed on nanostructured ferromagnetic metals (Fe, Ni, Co), produced by inert-gas condensation with different synthesis and grain size parameters. The anisotropic SANS-data measured on samples with very small grain sizes show in intermediate external magnetic fields between 0.8 and 1.5 kOe a net magnetic component aligned perpendicularly to the field direction. For further increasing external magnetic fields the spins align parallel to the field direction as expected. The effect becomes less pronounced and finally vanishes with increasing grain size. The unexpected magnetic behavior is attributed to the interaction between the ferromagnetic grains and an antiferro- or ferrimagnetic interfacial oxide phase. (C) 1997 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
