Some evidence for the existence of dynamic economic thresholds

This paper provides some simulation evidence of a dynamic economic threshold which is important to the problem of insect management. According to the theory of the dynamic economic threshold, farmers need not adhere to the fixed spray time rules as suggested on the label of most insecticides. A simulative case of Mexican bean beetles (Epilachna varivestis mulsant) in Indiana soybean production is developed. The numerical results show that farmers could have a higher income if they apply the rule of the dynamic economic threshold. Copyright (C) 1996 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd
