摘要
The utilization of luminescent semiconductor nanocrystals or quantum dots (QDs) in immunoassays, is described. The unique photophysical properties of the QDs, such as high quantum yields, large extinction coefficients, pronounced photostability, broad absorption spectra, among others, make them attractive for use in luminescent assays. QDs are attractive fluorophores that complement traditional organic dyes, and fluorescent proteins, and may be superior for multiplexing applications. The greatest impact of the fluorophores will be in their prospective ability to multiplex QD-based immunoassays.
