Cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) control major transitions as cells pass through the cell cycle. It has recently been shown that centrosome duplication in vertebrates requires Cdk2 activity and can be driven solely by Cdk2-cyclin E complexes. (C) Elsevier Science Ltd ISSN 0960-9822.
