A trio of studies in this issue of Cell Stem Cell from Mirzadeh et al., Shen et al., and Tavazoie et al. use three-dimensional imaging techniques to reveal microanatomical details of the adult neural stem cell niche. Combined, the results also provide a framework for future functional studies.
