Photocatalyzed degradation of agrochemicals using poly(2,5-dihexoxy-p-phenylene) and poly(3-octylthiophene-2,5-diyl) films

摘要
The photocatalytic degradation of agrochemicals using two electrochemically active conjugated polymers films was studied. The photodegradation of the agrochemicals obeyed first-order kinetics in the initial stage. However, the degradation rates deviated from first-order kinetics with an increasing irradiation time, presumably due to photodegradation of the films under UV light and/or peeling of the films. Although the photocatalytic activity of the polymers was inferior to that of TiO2, the polymers are expected to provide a new class of wastewater management systems.
