Reversible phase formation for chemisorption/physisorption of CO on Cu(100)

摘要
We report the first observation of a reversible phase transition between the (root 2x root 2)R45 degrees chemisorbed phase of CO on Cu(100) with physisorbed overlayers and the compressed (7 root 2x root 2)R45 degrees chemisorbed phase in the temperature range 23-35 K by reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS). The RAIRS data indicate the non-equilibrium growth of physisorbed CO multilayers.
