摘要
The main water flux into the North Sea after the rivers entering the Humber, comes from the Tweed. Hence, an understanding of the hydrology of the catchment is fundamental. Controls on river flows range from spatial and temporal climatic variations to anthropogenic influences (e.g. land use and reservoirs). There are significant contrasts between the upland areas in the west and the lowland areas in the east, primarily in terms of the rainfall distribution and land use impacts. Several hydrologically related issues, important to river management initiatives are discussed briefly. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
