Interactions of organic nitroso compounds with metals

In this review, an attempt is made to present and discuss the fundamental issues involved in the chemistry of organic nitroso compounds belonging to the C-nitroso, N-nitroso, and S-nitroso classes. With the increased attention given to the chemistry and biochemistry of NO since its discovery as a natural product, it is likely that more biological important roles of organic nitroso compounds will be discovered as a result of various nitrosation processes in vivo and in vitro. Consequently, their chemical behavior in the presence of metals is an important area that warrants continued investigation.
