Shock wave damping and dispersion in nonequilibrium low pressure argon plasmas

摘要
Shock wave propagation characteristics have been measured in low pressure nonequilibrium argon plasmas by the simultaneous multipoint laser beam deflection technique. For similar to Mach 2 shock waves, shock attenuation and dispersion are nonlinearly dependent on the shock amplitude. Observed features cannot be explained only by discharge heating effects.
