摘要
Regional differences in skin biomechanical properties may affect how physical cues modulate postinjury fibrosis. We demonstrate that variations in skin biomechanical properties can be precisely characterized using noninvasive technologies and propose the presence of region-specific scar zones that are predisposed to scar formation. Region-, wound-, and patient-specific stress shielding may be necessary to optimally control the mechanical environment and improve scar appearance.
